Dr. Kristi Tough DeSapri truly believes that women deserve to function at optimal health and are gatekeepers to their families’ health. She started Bone & Body Women’s Health with the goal of matching what midlife women want from a medical visit with her desire to spend quality time and expertise with her patients.

Over the past 15 years of private and academic practice, she has held leadership positions as the Director of the Northwestern Women’s Bone Health Program in the Department of Ob/GYN, academic appointments as assistant professor of Medicine and Ob/GYN at Northwestern, and the University of Chicago.

As a national leader in the field of bone health and menopause, she speaks annually at regional and national academic conferences and sits on several medical society committees including the Association of Bone Mineral Research, Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) and the North American Menopause Society (NAMS). Since 2010 she has been an active North American Menopause Certified Practitioner (NCMP) which is the premier organization certifying evidence-based menopause providers. She is on the provider alliance team and supports the mission of Ms. Medicine; a national membership organization for women’s health clinicians. Since 2012 Dr. DeSapri has been an ISCD ( International Society of Clinical Densitometry) certified clinical densitometrist and maintains her specialized ongoing certification. She teaches and trains her medical colleagues in DXA interpretation.

Dr. Kristi Tough DeSapri graduated cum laude from Tufts University and attended medical school at the University of Health Science Center in San Antonio. She completed an internship in Ob/GYN at NYU and a residency at Lenox Hill Hospital (affiliated with Hofsra University) She is board certified in Internal Medicine. Dedicated to the field, she completed a two-year multi-disciplinary fellowship in women’s health at the Cleveland Clinic working at the esteemed Center for Specialized Women’s Health. She held academic appointments at the University of Chicago and Northwestern. With this training and expertise, she is proud to embark on her own practice, Bone & Body Women’s Health.

Dr. DeSapri has lived in Canada, England, and the East Coast before moving to the Chicagoland area. With her husband, she is raising three busy school-aged boys who call her “Dr. Osteoporosis” (not an easy word to pronounce!). She enjoys tennis, yoga, and connecting with friends, family, and colleagues across the country and can’t live without good quality espresso.
